Happy Almost-Thanksgiving,  Matadors!  This is the time to remember and appreciate all the things we have to be thankful for, like Fantasy Football! Here is a list on what makes a successful Thanksgiving dinner, as well as a Fantasy Football playoff team.

The Turkey – Running Backs

  • DeMarco Murray (Dallas Cowboys)
  • Eddie Lacy (Green Bay Packers)

The turkey is the heart and soul of a Thanksgiving meal.  The heart of a Fantasy Football team is usually Mr. Running-Back-One and Mr. Running-Back-Two. These are your foundations as they carry your team to (hopefully) consistent points.  Another reason why they are so important is because it’s very hard to find two good ones.  So if you can, you’ll win your Fantasy title.

Mashed Potatoes – Quarterback

  • Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers)
  • Andrew Luck (Indianapolis Colts)

The potatoes are what brings the meal together, acting as the go between of all the foods and players on your team.  You have to have your quarterback to get you those consistent top points.  This is a passing league, and we usually love our potatoes.

Pumpkin Pie – Wide receivers

  • A.J. Green (Cincinnati Bengals)
  • Calvin Johnson (Detroit Lions)
  • Jordy Nelson (Green Bay Packers)

The pie is what many of us look forward to. It’s the reward for clearing your plate – much like wide receivers is what makes us smile.  Nothing better than a good pumpkin pie, and a long touchdown catch by your Fantasy wide receiver.

Turkey Nap – Defense

  • Philadelphia Eagles
  • Miami Dolphins
  • New England Patriots

It’s the best nap of the year, and it’s completely necessary to give yourself the treat.  Don’t sleep on your fantasy defense though as it’s often what wins titles.  Home-field advantages, like a turkey nap, is something we all get eventually. Watch teams with good pressure on the quarterback and you’ll find your Fantasy team and turkey dinner complete with points of joy.
