Sand Volleyball: Casino, Dragovic go undefeated as CSUN notches first win of the season

With a 4-1 victory over Cal Poly at the CSU Bakersfield Student Recreation Center Barnes Beach Volleyball Complex, the CSUN Sand Volleyball team won their first game of the season against the Mustangs in the second match of the day.

CSUN succumbed to a loss to the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners in Saturday’s first game, falling to the home side 4-1 Saturday.

Junior Alia Casino and freshman Nada Dragovic gave CSUN their only win in the fifth match during Saturday’s opener against CSUB, winning their sets 21-17 and 21-11. The Roadrunners overcame senior duo Casey Hinger and Kelcie Randazzo in the first match and senior Mahina Haina and freshman Katie Sato in the second.

The senior pair changed things around and won the first match against Cal Poly, winning in three sets. Haina and Sato bounced back as well, claiming their first victory of the season after winning their sets 21-17 and 21-12.

Sophomore Julie Haake and freshman Nicolette Pinkney won the third match of the day before junior Cieana Stinson and sophomore Stephanie Serna lost the fourth match of the day. Dragovic and Casino went undefeated and won the fifth match to give the Matadors a 4-1 win over the Mustangs as reported in casino USA casinosusa.com website.

CSUN will host the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs at the newly opened Matador Sand Volleyball Facility on Tuesday, Mar. 8.
