Sand Volleyball: CSUN notches first-ever home victory against TCU 4-1

The CSUN Sand Volleyball squad started out slow Tuesday versus TCU, but would overcome the Horned Frogs with a 4-1 victory.

Freshman Nada Dragovic and Junior Alia Casino were the first CSUN pair to notch a victory Tuesday, battling through TCU’s Chyna Perkins and Chyanne Perkins 15-21, 21-17, 15-13.

CSUN’s Junior Cieana Stinson and Sophomore Stephanie Serna were able to play it close with TCU’s Blaire Pickens and Sarah Grantham in the 4th match, but would eventually fall 21-13, 21-23, 15-12.

With the squads all tied up, CSUN would quickly pull ahead. Freshman Katie Sato and Senior Mahina Haina defeated Macy Capen and Ashley Smith winning 21-14 21-18.

Seniors Casey Hinger and Kelcie Randazzo then clinched a win against TCU’s Natalie Gower and Shane Peters 21-18, 21-12.

Sophomore Julie Haake and Freshman Nicolette Pinkey would go on to finish off TCU with a thrilling comeback win, 19-21, 21-19, 15-13 against Horned Frogs Sutton Sunstorm and Alexis Heist.

CSUN is now 2-2, and off to a great start in their second Sand Volleyball season, with two straight victories and more W’s in sight.

A season that started with loses to UCLA and Bakersfield, is on the rise following convincing wins against Cal Poly and now TCU.

CSUN faces Pacific University at 1 p.m. and Long Beach State at 3 p.m.
