Things to do at CSUN this week

5 p.m. – Tuesday, March 3

What is the meaning of life? The hilarious co-star of NBC’s comedy “The Office,” Rainn Wilson, will discuss this big question. The 49-year-old actor will talk about his website SoulPancake, an online website that includes thought-provoking and creative content that encourages people to explore the meaning of life. He’ll cover topics such as culture, art, philosophy and spirituality. Students get in free with a CSUN I.D so take a break from midterm studying and head down to the VPAC. 5 p.m. – Wednesday, March 4

Calling all Lakers fans. Cheer for the home team against Miami Heat at the PUB Sports Grill, UCU. There’s no bad seat in the house because the pub has a huge screen T.V. There will be a halftime raffle with prizes and students get a $2 discount on pub food. Forget you’re at school for a moment and grab a beer. The restaurant will air Clippers and Lakers games through March. For more information click, here.

8 a.m. – Thursday, March 6

If you need volunteer hours look no further. Keep the community clean and join the Northridge West Neighborhood Council members for the weekly outdoor clean up. Not only will you help the environment, there’s free refreshments and the two hours will count as volunteer credit. Don’t forget to bring gloves, comfortable shoes and sunscreen. 8 p.m. – Thursday, March 5

It’s the first Thursday of the month, which mean “Neon Nights” event will be hosted at the Game Room, USU. Come hungry and ready to dance because there’s free pizza, games and live DJ music. Grab a group of friends and play ping-pong or billiards. Also video games on the Wii consoles and XBOX 360 will be available. 2:30 p.m. – Friday, March 6

Holocaust survivor Dr. Henry Oster, 86, will tell his story about living through the horrors at the infamous Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps. He is one of the lucky survivors, out of approximately 2,000 Jews taken from his hometown. “Even in hell, there is hope,” Oster writes in his book. Oster survived nighttime raids, starvation and many close encounters with death. There will also be a book signing. This is a historic event you don’t want to miss. For more information click, here.
