Graduate and professional schools gathered at the USU’s Northridge Center to provide students with information on academic programs and financial aid resources.

At this yearly event, California schools and some from oversees gather to make students aware of the endless opportunities they can achieve.

Only a few out of the 100 schools in attendance gave students information about admittance and how tuition can be paid either through scholarships and loans.

Among the schools in attendance were USC, UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, CSU Fullerton, CSU Long Beach, CSUN, CSU Dominguez Hills, Loyola Marymount University and Pepperdine University.

Sarah Le Long, SUNlink administrator and events coordinator at the career center, said it is an event that all students can benefit from because it is good to know about the different options available and what every school has to offer.

SUNlink is a website designed for CSUN students to take advantage of jobs, internships and other opportunities to give them a jump-start to their career.

“These are advisement counselors, they’re admittance counselors [and] they’re admitting students,” said Le Long. “It’s a great resource to get that first-hand from these representatives.”

Alicia Vargas, a representative at UC Berkeley’s School of Journalism booth said she encourages students who are interested in pursuing a graduate career in journalism.

She also encouraged them to not stop themselves for any reason because they can gain hands-on experience from studying at Berkeley or anywhere else, which will lead to job offers and several opportunities.

Senior Genesis Ernal, a deaf studies major, said she found this event helpful after talking to a couple schools. She wants to pursue a nursing masters degree after she obtains her bachelors degree.

“Mount Saint Mary’s they have a nursing program that I’m thinking about going to,” said Ernal.

CSUN alumnus Kelvin Lung graduated this past summer with a degree in biochemistry and is interested in continuing his education at USC.

“I [think] USC has a good graduate program,” said Lung. “That is the only reason why I came here.”

Janice Potzmann, assistant director at the career center, said the event had a really good student turn out with positive feedback from the recruiters, schools and students who attended.

The next event is the Fall Career Fair on Oct. 28, 2015. Over 100 employers from all kinds of working industries come out to find potential candidates to work for their companies.
