Matador Nights returns this year with the promise of intergalactic fun.

The biannual event started in 2006 to celebrate the establishment of the University Student Union.

The first Matador Nights took place in the newly renovated USU and marked a commitment to not only increase the amount of programming for students but to also provide Matadors a safe, free environment in which to have fun.

The first Matador Nights attracted three times its expected outcome, and the event has doubled in attendance throughout the years.

This year’s Matador Nights, “Houston … We Have a Party,” promises cosmic aesthetics and a variety of activities and musical guests.

Matador Nights will provide students the ability to unwind with activities all through the night such as a galactic casino, tarot readings, a photo booth, caricature and glitter artists, carnival games, and free food. In addition to all the activities available, Matador Nights will also feature headliners DJ Wax Motif and Reid Stefan.

Tickets are available exclusively to Matadors, free of cost with a valid CSUN ID, at the front desk of the USU Sol Center and at the A.S. Ticket Office. The event itself will take place at the USU on Friday, Sept. 4, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

In order to provide a safe environment for Matadors to party, the USU has made a list of rules available.

The event is exclusive for CSUN students — meaning guests will not be permitted. A valid CSUN ID and ticket are required for entry.

The following items will also not be permitted: any type of drink, drug or illegal substance; weapons; pepper spray; skateboards or scooters; makeup; lighters; cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes and vaporizers; laser pointers; stickers; and purses, handbags and backpacks.

Students interested in volunteering at Matador Nights can still register online and must attend training Wednesday from 1–2 p.m. at Lake Balboa Room in the USU. The link to register is: http://www.csun.edu/usu/matador-nights/volunteer
