Classical music and the love for Beethoven has expanded into a virtual reality experience that allows students to attend a private concert in a special designed touring truck.

The L.A. Philharmonic and Walk Disney Concert Hall wanted to incorporate their latest technologies using the Oculus gear virtual reality powered, which is a 360 3-dimensional experience.

Inside the Van Beethoven truck, students with their Oculus head gear watch Gustavo Dudamel conduct the orchestra.

The yellow touring truck consists of the seats that allows an individual to sit inside the Disney Hall. It gives someone a real life concert experience while watching Gustavo Dudamel conduct the orchestra.

L.A. Philharmonic staff member, Karen Barraza, said the inspiration behind four-minutes virtual reality experience, the Van Beethoven touring truck, was to get users a private concert.

“Not only the technology, but we wanted to take it to the community. We wanted to get people who are not aware of the L.A. Phil and the Disney Hall to give them a little snippet about what it is,” Barraza said.

The Van Beethoven will be on campus today until 3 p.m. Students that stop by will receive a $20 rewards ticket towards their next purchase at the Walt Disney Hall.

“I to the Disney Hall and watch the L.A. Philharmonic alot. So it was really interested wearing the gear and experiencing this for my first time,” said music major, Christine Elegino.

Van Beethoven will tour the Los Angeles area and will make its last stop on Oct. 24.

“I’m feeling excited. I been interested in classical musical for awhile. So I’m excited to see what this experience is going to be like,” said freshman student Ludvin Maldonado.
