Africana Studies department celebrates its 46th anniversary

CSUN’s Department of Africana Studies will celebrate its 46th anniversary with a week-long event starting on Nov. 2-6.

The celebration commemorates 46 years of commitment to supporting the rich, dynamic and enduring nature of the African world experience.

Students and faculty members will be able to pay tribute to the Department of Africana Studies, by attending several workshops and activities scheduled throughout the week.

Schedule Of Events:

Monday

Africana Studies Open House from 2-4 p.m. at Mezzanine in Santa Susana Hall.

Tuesday

Lecture by Dr. Nina Smart, Author of “Wild Flower: The True Story of a Romanian Girl in Africa,” from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in Sierra Hall 342

Meet the Black Organizations 12-3 p.m. in Plaza Del Sol, University Student Union.

Wednesday

Film screening: Storm at Valley State from 2-3 p.m. at the Little Theatre, Nordhoff Hall 121

46th anniversary keynote lecture by Rev. Zedar Broadous from 3-4 p.m. at the Little Theatre, Nordhoff Hall 121

#BlackLivesMatter@CSUN from 4-6:45 p.m. at the Flintridge Room, USU

Thursday

Black wall street fair from 12-3 p.m. outside of Santa Susana Hall

Friday

Film discussion and race discussion: “Dear White People” from 6-9 p.m. at the USU theater
