Phone photography is the easiest way to document life visually and to take selfies whenever the time calls for it. VSCO Cam is a photo editing app that has a variety of filters that are better than Instagram’s filters and is free for iOS and Android users.

It is simple to take advantage of the many features that VSCO Cam offers. Just create an account, make a username, upload a profile image and you’re ready to explore the grid. The grid is essentially a collection of images from VSCO Cam users, that are inspiring to see and the more images you upload, the more photos you will have in your own personal grid.

The awesome features include advanced camera controls, professional-grade tools and presets, your own collection of photos and the option to publish the photo to different sites or other apps.

The downside to this app is that there are in-app-purchases for some of the filter collections. The most expensive set of presets is the “Limited Edition Collection,” which cost $6.99. However, VSCO offers a lot of free filter collections that are just as great, so you wouldn’t have to spend any money unless you wanted to.

People from all over the world use this app and it is now a part of the essentials list in the Apple app store. Visual Supply Company, the company that created VSCO, just came out with another app called DSCO, which is used to create GIFs.
