Tuesday 2.2 Music — Taking Back Tuesday: Emo Night LA

Relive 2005 at The Echoplex’s Taking Back Tuesday: Emo Nights LA. Quickly becoming one of LA’s most notable club nights, Taking Back Tuesday is a traveling DJ troupe that spins only and all emo classics from the early 2000s. This monthly event is a must-attend for the Paramore-loving, skinny jeans-wearing, black nail-polished, 15-year-olds at heart. Wear your Brand New shirt with pride.

Wednesday 2.3 — Film — Hammer Screenings: Flux Series

The Hammer Museum will present its Flux Screening Series, an eclectic curation of short films and music videos as well as other visual representations of artistic interpretation from all over the world. This screening will feature special guest filmmakers Terri Timely, Joel Knoernschild, Suzi Yoonessi and others, and will host works from artists such as Tame Impala, Miike Snow and the late David Bowie. The film will be followed by a live DJ set from Marion Jones.

Thursday 2.4 — Museum — European Art tour at LACMA

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art will offer a 50-minute tour of its diverse collection of European art. The tour features 17th century Dutch and 19th century French paintings, as well as Italian and French baroque artwork. Tickets may be purchased online through LACMA.org or over the phone at (323) 857-6010.

Friday 2.5 — Music — Reggie Watts at Teragram Ballroom

Reggie Watts, the acting bandleader for the “The Late Late Show with James Corden” on CBS, will headline the Teregram Ballroom this Friday. Best known for his improvisational routine and beatboxing, Watts never fails in flexing both his musical and comical capabilities. Watts is a nationally-recognized performer having had successful tours in the U.S., Europe and Australia, and dozens of late-night guest appearances.

The Los Angeles Convention Center will host the “West Coast’s biggest baking and pasty convention,” known as LA Cookie Con. Sunday 2.7 — Theater — Dirty Dancing at the Pantages Theater

Trying to avoid any and all Super Bowl 50 chaos? Do the exact opposite and see Dirty Dancing live at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. There will be mantinee and evening productions of the popular stage adaptation. The film, starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, is a mom-favorite, earning a Grammy and Academy Award for the ever-80s “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.”

Monday 2.8 — On-Campus Event — Super Smash Bros. Brawl Tournament

On Monday, be ready to show off you Super Smash Bros. skills in one of two tournaments being held in the Games Room in USU this semester. Battle it out as your favorite character.
