Horror movie fans get ready to be scared silly because deranged killers, paranormal beings and things that go bump in the night are only a few of the frights to experience at The Great Horror Movie Night.

Brought to you by Ten Thirty One Productions, the same people who created the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride and The Great Horror Campout, The Great Movie Horror Nights series will be commencing its 2016 season in March with outdoor screenings of some of the greatest horror movie classics at Griffith Park’s old abandoned zoo, located at 4730 Crystal Springs Drive in Los Angeles.

The series will begin with a showing of Steven Spielberg’s spine-chilling classic “Poltergeist” on Friday, March 11, followed by a showing of the psychological thriller “The Shining” on Friday, April 1, and concluding on Friday, May 13, with a showing of the iconic slasher flick “Friday the 13th.”

For the screenings of “Poltergeist” and “The Shining,” the gates will be opened at 6:00 p.m. and the movie will start at 7:15 p.m. For the final screening of “Friday the 13th,” the gates will be opened at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will start at 7:45 p.m.

Guests who arrive early can enjoy the pre-show entertainment which includes audience interactive games as well some pre-show movie-themed entertainment and prizes. Guests may bring their own lawn chairs and blankets for their movie watching pleasure and to make their experience more enjoyable and comfortable.

Be warned, there might be a monster or two lingering around the premises, so hearing a few blood-curdling screams is a major possibility. Horror movie fans who aren’t afraid are to proceed at their own risk. For the brave few, there are some opportunities to take a photo with your favorite monsters.

According to the event website, parking is free but is on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no overnight parking allowed. IDs will be checked upon arrival. Tickets are $15 at the event website (other places like Goldstar may offer them cheaper) and are non-refundable and non-transferable. The event will still take place, rain or shine. Smoking is strictly prohibited on the premises and you must leave all metal objects in your car. Guests are not allowed to wear costumes, masks or props of any kind.
