Cadence Valentine and Trista Hidalgo, both CSUN alumni, consulted Eddie Redmayne in his performance. Valentine embarked on her own journey as a transgender individual years ago with her life partner by her side, Hidalgo. The couple used their personal and life experiences to guide and consult Redmayne in his performance as Lili Elbe.

After the movie, Cadence Valentine (L) and Trista Hidalgo (R) did a Q&A about the film and how their experiences helped Eddie Redmayne prepare for his role as Einar Wegener/Lili Elbe. Ariane Azar/The Sundial

The Q&A consisted of personal and intimate questions, life experiences from both Valentine, Hidalgo as well as the students, a discussion of the film and Redmayne’s performance over all.
