Beating the system
October 25, 2005
The Stop Police Brutality march in Downtown Los Angeles on Oct. 22 marked the 10th anniversary of the event. The march and rally began at the intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Broadway Street, where hundreds of people wearing black gathered. Students from CSUN Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano/a de Aztlan and the Black Student Union took part in the event, which looked to raise awareness of issues relating to police brutality. Police officers lined the streets as protestors shouted and chanted. Family members of alleged police brutality victims marched in front as supporters gathered behind. The rally started in front of Los Angeles Police Department headquarters on Los Angeles Street.
