President Koester asked to extend term on AASCU board

A subcommittee of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities has asked CSUN President Jolene Koester to extend her term on the AASCU board of directors. Koester joined the board last year for a one-year term set to expire this month. A subcommittee of the board in October recommended that Koester extend her term to 2008. The full board voted Nov. 21 to affirm the recommendation at its annual meeting. The AASCU represents more than 430 public colleges, universities and higher education systems in the United States and its territories. Koester will continue to help the association fulfill its stated goals, which include the promotion of appreciation and support for public higher education; providing of policy leadership and program support for academic quality, access and inclusion; and the creation of professional development opportunities for institutional leaders, among others, according to a statement. AASCU schools, according to the association, enroll more than 3 million students, totaling 56 percent of enrollment at all public four-year institutions.
