The CSUN women’s golf team finished seventh overall with a combined score of 1,008 in three rounds at the 2006 Wolfpack Invitational held at the 72-par 6,044-yard D’Andrea Country Club in Nevada Oct. 4-5.

Finishing in seventh through the first two rounds on Oct. 4, the Matadors followed with a team-best-third-round performance Oct. 5 but were unable to move up in the rankings. The Matadors scored a team total of 330 in the final round.

Idaho State finished behind CSUN with a score of 1,024 while Lamar University finished ahead of the Matadors with a score of 978.

The host University of Nevada Wolfpack finished with a team total of 920, posting a tournament best 300 in the third round. Sacramento State finished 13 strokes behind the Wolfpack and the University of Iowa scored a 940.

Conference rival Cal Poly finished the tournament in fourth with a score of 948.

In individual performance, the Wolfpack also finished at the top of the class.

Nevada’s Nicole DeGennaro finished nine over par, placing her in the tournament’s top performance. Nevada posted two more players in the top 10 with Melanie DeLeon placing third and Jennie Pleas finishing seventh.

Therese Nilsson finished second overall for Lamar with an 11 over par performance.

CSUN Junior Lucy Davies had a team-best four over par performance in the second round of the tournament. Davies recorded the two top scores in the first two rounds for the Matadors. A total score of 243 put her at +27 placing her in a tie for 21st place overall in the eight-school competition.

Junior Jennifer Yoo tied for 33rd place posting her best round in the third round with an eight over par performance. She finished the tournament at 39 over par and a final score of 255.

Sophomore Katrina Sutton and junior Jameliz Torres finished with scores of 260 and 264. In three rounds Sutton put up scores of 88-85-87, placing her in a tie for 36th place. Torres scored 86-90-88 in her three rounds, putting her in a tie for 39th place.

Senior Nikki Imaromna was disqualified in the first round for not signing her scorecard. She posted an 86 and a 78 in the final two rounds.

The Matadors will participate in their second tournament of the 2006 season when they head to Chula Vista to compete in the Lady Aztec Invitational Oct. 16-17.
