The Matadors (14-5, 5-3 Big West) had their two-game winning streak snapped on Senior Day to Big West conference opponent Hawaii (10-9, 5-3 Big West) on Sunday.
Senior Criss Rodriguez, a 2014 All-Big West Honorable mention, was the only Matador to earn singles and doubles victories all while in her final CSUN regular season home game.
Rodriguez improved to 15-3 overall and 6-2 against Big West opponents by defeating her opponent in straight sets in the third draw, 6-4 and 6-3. Hawaii won the other three singles matches and the Matadors had no chance of rallying for a victory.
The Rainbow Wahine won the three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead in the regular season finale for the Matadors.
In doubles play, Rodriguez and junior Jessica Warren improved to 11-4 on the season and 4-3 against Big West opponents by defeating their opponent in the third draw 8-2.
The CSUN women’s tennis team finished the season at 14-5 overall and 5-3 in the Big West. The Matadors finished fifth in the Big West and will play Hawaii Friday in the Big West Tournament Quarterfinal match in Indian Wells, Calif.
