Fire tamed in Moorpark after scorch

The Los Angeles Fire Department lends a hand to Ventura County after a rapid fire carried by 60 mph winds scorched the hills and neighborhoods of Moorpark, Dec. 3. Some L.A. County departments were called in yesterday to help control remaining embers, debris and flames. The ferocious fire managed to burn at least 9,700 acres, incinerated five homes, and threatened the homes near Balcom Canyon Road and other hillside communities.
