Year of The Pig

Erin Lee-Chin

The Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in the Chinese culture. The New Year’s celebration is most recognized by its elaborate dragon dance, which symbolizes the bringing of good luck and success in the upcoming year. The Los Angeles East Wind South China Lion Dance Troupe visited all the merchants in Chinatown to perform the dragon dance on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2007. The purpose of the visitation and dance is to get rid of the evil spirits.
