Criminal justice student shot, dies

He became a criminal justice major to combat the gang violence he grew up with in the Lennox area and while visiting that very same area he was shot and killed in the early hours of the morning on Saturday.

'It's really ironic,' said Bryant Ortiz his friend and CSUN student. 'He was studying criminal justice to and then to die from gang violence.'

Family returns to mobile home park, 500 residences destroyed

Hours after their home was consumed by flames the Corral family returned to the Oakridge mobile park on Saturday to look at the remains. The gray barren area looked nothing like the home they left the night before and could only describe the scene as a 'dream.' The Sylmar fire at the Oakridge mobile park destroyed over 500 mobile homes. Click here for audio and photos.

Kia Calvin Abbasi has come a long way from handing out dollar bills to the homeless at Santa Monica as a kid. He has moved on to volunteer his time at homeless shelters in the greater Los Angeles area, feeding and clothing the less fortunate.

The results are in for the second Associated Students' elections this semester. All of the current senators who took part in the election kept their seats and one write in candidate won the senator position for the college of education.

The special elections will be held today, Nov. 12 and 13 due to the elections being cancelled two weeks ago after it was reported that the electronic system used for the elections was malfunctioning.
