Students exercise with belly dancing

Belly dancing originated in the Middle East as an exercise to prepare women for childbirth. While most of the attendees in the Oct. 8 night's belly dancing short course weren't preparing for childbirth, they certainly did get some exercise. The University Student Union organized the hour-long Belly Dancing for Beginners class as part of their ongoing series of Life Skills and Leadership Short Courses.

October marks domestic violence month

October marks the 20th annual National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time committed to creating awareness about domestic violence against women, men and children. The first national domestic violence awareness month was October 1987, which also marked the creation of the first national toll-free domestic violence hotline.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's office today to urge him to sign a bill that would allow undocumented students to apply for non-competitive state financial aid. I have accepted that my bladder is not especially efficient. I have grown accustomed to frequent bathroom breaks, and I fully expect that nature will call at the most inopportune times. Professors showcase art ability in edge art exhibit

Edge art exhibit opened with a gallery reception on Saturday, Sept. 8, showcasing 34 emeriti and full-time studio faculty artists from the CSUN art department. The theme of the show, edge, a term with multiple interpretations ranging from "abyss" to "advantage," reveals a mixed media exhibition bringing together established and emerging artists in the exploration of visual and visionary communication.

Katrina survivors still struggle two years later
