Protests show generation’s strength after Jena 6

Chrystal King September 24, 2007
It seems we've come a long way, from abolition, to the civil rights movement, to the implementation of affirmative action. Our own parents and grandparents fought, protested, boycotted and marched so that minorities, especially African Americans, could drink from the same water fountains, receive service from the same restaurants and earn an education in the same schools as the white majority.

Play about Irish family a reflection on contemporary life

Chrystal King September 20, 2007
The Cleavers have nothing on this 1950s family. The Donellys, an Irish family living on the east coast of Ireland, show us everything that 1950s sitcoms tried to hide. Many people may be able to relate to the real life problems that the characters encounter. From loneliness, broken hearts, loss of a job and insecurities, Simon ventures through the down sides of life, which are considered universal experiences for all, as portrayed from the living room of a Manhattan apartment in the 1970s.
