Not if you get Tasered for it. People should be able to articulate themselves even if the questions are a little bit controversial because that's what freedom of speech is about.

Ramadan: A Time For Reflection

defaultuser September 20, 2007
Ramadan is a month of reflection and introspection shared among the estimated 1.5 billion people on earth who practice Islam. For 30 days, Muslims make the commitment not to eat or drink from sunrise to sunset. Although this might seem like torture to many observers, most Muslims look forward to going on this spiritual journey taking action to strengthen their bond with their creator.

James Wolf's letter to the editor, published on Sept. 18, has illustrated in one fell swoop the reason why the world currently (and possibly rightfully, if most Americans share Wolf's viewpoints) hates us, and why the Bush administration's current obsession of being the best and the only superpower in the world could very well be this country's demise in future foreign policy.

Dear Editor, As a CSUN alumnus, I remember being a student under former President Blenda Wilson's administration. Prior to transferring to CSUN, I was a student at CSU, Sacramento, under then Provost Jolene Koester. Many students at CSUN now don't remember this campus the way it was just following the earthquake of 1994.

Dear Terrorist Extremists, I must apologize for the way my country has acted toward you in the course of the past few decades. We never quite used the amount of lethal force we should have when dealing with you. As a result, things have been getting way out of hand.

The board of the Muslim Student Association recently wrote to the Sundial that they condemn terrorism in all forms. I wonder then if the MSA would recognize Israel's right to exist, condemn Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist groups, and denounce the rocket attacks and suicide bombings those groups have launched against Israeli civilians? This is something that other Muslim groups always waffle on after they "condemn terrorism in all forms.

The Muslim Student Association joins our nation in honoring those who lost their lives in the tragic events of Sept. 11, their grieving families and friends, and the brave men and women whose sacrifice we shall never forget. As American Muslims, we reiterate our condemnation of terrorism in all forms.

Dear war-torn Middle East, I must apologize for the way my country has acted toward you in the course of the past few decades. We never quite saw eye-to-eye, but lately things have been getting way out of hand. I just wanted to let you know that I realize this and I do feel guilty.
