CSUN trying to get ahead of the pack

After snapping a five-game losing streak with a 4-2 win at UC Santa Barbara Wednesday, the Cal State Northridge softball team (23-14) looks to continue to turn the corner at home this weekend. It won't be an easy task as the Matadors will face No. 25 Cal Poly (28-9).

The Cal State Northridge softball team (23-14, 3-5) lost two games to UC Santa Barbara Saturday afternoon at the Gauchos' Softball Complex. The losses now have the Matadors in a five-game losing streak. CSUN was 20-3 over its past 23 games before the current skid.

Winning streak comes to sweeping end

The Cal State Northridge softball team (23-12, 3-3) was swept at Long Beach State (24-14, 5-1) over the weekend, bringing an 11-game winning streak to an abrupt end. The Matadors hadn't lost since March 10, when they were defeated 10-1 by Texas.

The Cal State Northridge softball team (23-9) dominated last weekend in their Big West Conference series opener, a 3-0 sweep against Pacific. This weekend, the Matadors have a harder test against the defending conference champions, the Long Beach State 49ers (21-14).

The Cal State Northridge softball team went a perfect 5-0 at the San Diego Classic II last weekend. The Matadors looked impressive against some tough competition and were the only team to go undefeated in the tournament. CSUN is red hot, going 15-3 over its last 18 games. The main reason for the Matadors success of late is the pitching of their ace, Debbie Duran. For the season, Duran has a record of 13-5 with an ERA of 1.55. Duran also went 5-0 in San Diego with an 0.93 ERA and a .160 batting average for the opposition.' ' '

Northridge splits it with Texas

The Cal State Northridge softball team (13-9) split a doubleheader with the Texas Longhorns (17-6) Tuesday afternoon at Matador Diamond. The Matadors got the horns from Texas in game 1 losing 10-1. In game 2, the Matadors got even with help from their ace Debbie Duran, who pitched a complete game, to beat the Longhorns 4-1.

The Cal State Northridge softball team (12-8) played host this weekend and welcomed Rutgers, Portland State and Quinnipiac in the Worth Invitational at Matador Diamond. The Matadors did a solid job and went 4-1 for the second straight weekend.

The CSUN softball team finished the UTEP Tournament in El Paso, Texas Saturday morning with a record of 3-2, boosting its record up to 4-6.' Junior Christina Saenz and sophomore Tracy Allen were the MVP's for the Matadors in the tournament.
