Vintage photographs and historic news articles that document the Civil Rights Movement are being featured in a series in the main lobby of the Oviatt Library. Black and white photographs of the 1963 civil rights march in Washington, D.C. and the march from Selma to Montgomery, Ala.

N-word debated by panelists, students

Panelists and students remained divided on if the N-word is appropriate for use by black students at the N-word Forum, held Feb. 12 at the University Student Union. The idea of the forum, organized by the NAACP student chapter, grew out of discussions with friends after viewing the documentary of the same name, said Yemi Kuku, president of CSUN NAACP.

No parking placard for pregnant women

Pregnant CSUN students may find limited parking on campus to be difficult and straining, but CSUN officials say special accommodations cannot be made. Jennifer Scott, a nine-month pregnant student, finds that getting to class from a far-off parking place can be a frustrating experience.

Some CSUN students ignore internship advice from advisers

Although most CSUN students are aware of the opportunities that internships provide, they have their own reasons for not having completed them. "I'm not sure exactly what I want to do," said junior marketing major Jeff Felix. He has not completed an internship because he is considering changing his major to communications, he said, adding that he will complete an internship in the future depending on the major he decides on.

Finance committee gives support to women’s rights events

The Associated Students Finance Committee voted Monday in favor of providing additional funds to the student organization Violent Acts Grounded for its projects conducted on campus. The committee voted 4 to 1 to recommend an additional $1,500 to VAG for its Take Back the Night project, as well as financial support for interpretive services for deaf and hard of hearing students.
