Center pushes for national ‘no junk mail’ registry

A recent study by the Consumer Research Institute found that 91 percent of American adults know about the FCC's Do Not Call list, the registry that brings unwanted telemarketing calls to an end. The Center for a New American Dream, a national organization that "helps Americans take responsibility in protecting the environment, promote social justice and enhance the quality of life," is seeking to create a similar list for junk mail or advertisement mail sent out in bulk.

A.S. Senate slashes funding for Chicana/o event

Associated Students Senate turned down the CSUN Chicana/o Graduate Student Association request for full funding on an upcoming event at the A.S. Senate meeting yesterday afternoon. About 15 students came to the meeting in support of CGSA and 10 spoke to the Senate trying to urge the approval of their funding request for $7,000 or even half that amount.

A.S. Senate honors student athlete

The first male CSUN student to win a NCAA Division 1 National Championship was honored with an official statement of accomplishment at the Associated Students Senate meeting yesterday afternoon. Dashalle Andrews, 22, jumped 25 feet and three quarter inches in the long jump 2007 NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships held in June to be the second person in CSUN history to win a NCAA event.
