As the anniversary of Sept. 11 approaches, it may serve as a reminder for students and faculty to attend one of CSUN's monthly CPR and first aid classes offered by the Union Program Council and the University Student Union.

A fire broke out in the Calabasas and Agoura Hills areas yesterday afternoon, burning 75 acres but with no property damage or injuries reported. Due to suspicious findings, arson investigators were on the scene, officials said.

James Petersen is a 19-year-old sophomore in CSUN's Jazz program. Originally from Maine, Petersen now lives in Northridge and is part of several jazz ensembles, including the Epicenter Band and the Waves. Petersen believes that jazz is the most difficult and true form of music, as it requires a deep understanding of music theory in order to have musical conversations or improvise.
