Secret Service question high school girl

A Sacramento high school freshman was pulled out of biology class and bullied to the point of tears by Secret Service agents on Oct. 11 because of her "Kill Bush" MySpace page. Her name is Julia Wilson and if you've seen the pictures she looks as innocent as apple pie.

Students call for more A.S. funding for cultural events

Students called for a reevaluation of the Associated Students Finance committee and for the allocation of funds to better support cultural groups and individual projects in the open forum of the A.S. Senate meeting on Tuesday. "Somehow every time a cultural political group asks for money, there's a problem," said Karina Ceja, president of El Movimiento Estudantil Chicano/a de Aztlan.

Play provides interesting characters, strange ending

The basic premise of "On the Verge," written by Eric Overmeyer, directed by CSUN's James De Paul and playing through Nov. 5, can be difficult to grasp at times but fortunately it is a play meant to be individually interpreted. The first half of the play is full of twists and turns, which feels like trying to watch "Memento" or "Fight Club" before your friends told you what they were about.

CSU Employees Union deadlocked

Nearly every year, tuition and student fees are raised in the California State University system. Every time contract renewals come along, CSU faculty and employee unions say they have to fight for decent salaries. This year the California State University Employees Union has been in contract negotiations since March.

Big Show 6 estimated overbudget by $30,000

There were more than 5,000 people at Big Show this year, as compared to 2,100 last year, and the individuals involved at Associated Students' division of Student Production and Campus Entertainment are extremely proud. This year's Big Show provided many firsts for the on-campus concert series.

Victorian-styled play opens this Friday

The play "On the Verge," written by Eric Overmeyer, begins Oct. 20 and should be a breath of fresh air for television and movie addicts. According to director and professor James De Paul, this play engages the imaginations through witty wordplay with popular culture overtones.

Negotiations stalled until after election

The California Faculty Association has reached an impasse in the contract negotiations with the California State University and is now readying for the state to appoint mediators to help them reach an agreement by rallying and educating the public. Last month, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Human Resources Sam Strafaci told the Daily Sundial that it seemed "wise" to get the state involved in the ongoing negotiations.

Africa Week sparks debate within A.S. divisions

A.S. releases election advertisements, incites controversy

For the November elections, the Associated Students has distributed their first batch of cards advertising the slogan "I Vote I Won" to get students aware and interested, but they have recently gotten a complaint that the hands on the card do not do an adequate job of representing the diverse student population.
