After losing game one, the Cal State Northridge baseball team bounced back and took the next two games to win the series against the UC Davis Aggies May 5-7 at Matador Field. The Matadors record is now 21-23 overall and 3-8 in the Big West. In game one, CSUN avoided a shutout in the ninth inning when first baseman Jorge Andrade Jr.

The California State Northridge men's baseball team continued Big West conference play, losing two out of three games against the University of California Santa Barbara Gauchos April 28-30 at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium in Santa Barbara. CSUN childcare worker cleared of all charges

The Los Angeles City Attorney's office decided no charges should be filed against a CSUN employee of the university's Child and Family Studies Center Infant/Toddler School who was arrested in connection with misdemeanor battery. In a hearing conducted April 10, the City Attorney's office ruled that there was not enough information to proceed with the case against Wendy Elizabeth Nicola.

CSUN to offer doctorate degrees in Fall 2008

CSUN will offer doctorate degrees in education as early as Fall 2008, as a result of State Senate Bill 724, which was approved in September 2005 by the California State Senate. The program will be aimed at students interested in educational administration, said Philip Rusche, dean of the College of Education.

Baseball matches win total from previous season

The Cal State Northridge baseball team split the first two games of a three-game series against the Long Beach State Dirtbags and were unable to complete the third game due to darkness April 13-15 at Matador Field. The Matadors matched their total games won from last season as their record stands at 18-20 with one game still undecided.

CSUN swept by Fullerton in conference opener

The Cal State Northridge baseball team was swept in the Big West conference opening series by the Cal State Fullerton Titans March 31-April 2 at Goodwin Field. The sweep put the Matadors back below .500 with a record of 15-17 and a 0-3 conference record. The sweep also extended the Titans' current winning streak over the Matadors to 12 games.

High school students take to the streets

Protests against proposed legislation that would further restrict undocumented immigration continued Monday, just two days after an estimated half million people gathered at the Civic Center in downtown Los Angeles. Thousands of high school students walked out of classes throughout the San Fernando Valley and other areas of Los Angeles.

Baseball sweeps Cal Poly; winning streak now six

The Cal State Northridge baseball team increased its winning streak to six games as it swept the Cal Poly Mustangs in a three-game series March 24-26 at Baggett Stadium in San Luis Obispo. The sweep put the Matadors back above .500, improving its record to 15-14 just in time for conference play.

CSUN takes two from Loyola, one from Dartmouth

The Cal State Northridge baseball team improved its record to 12-14 on the season after taking two out of three from the Loyola Marymount Lions, and defeating the Dartmouth Big Green in a single game match-up March 17-20. The Matadors took on the Lions at Matador field on March 17 and 18 before heading to Page Stadium for the final game of their series March 19.

Renovation of student union postponed for third time

CSUN students will have to wait a little longer before they can use the new University Student Union's $15.2 million renovation. The renovated USU, which was scheduled to open March 16, was delayed due to rainfall, delivery delays and a ruptured water main, university officials said.
