Fasting from sunrise to sunset in Ramadan

William Kammer October 2, 2006

Students dodge cops in fight to skate

William Kammer September 26, 2006
CSUN police and the skaters around Manzanita Hall have been playing cat-and-mouse for years. The police show up, and the skaters scatter or sit down. "Sometimes I'll put my skateboard in the trash and act like I don't skate," said Charles, a 19-year-old sophomore English major.

Sticks and stones … but words will never hurt me

William Kammer September 25, 2006
Imagine a society where we are not allowed to talk about the president. We can't talk about abortion or war. Because of the fear of offending people or the fear of a violent uprising, we don't talk about politics, and there is no way we could possibly talk about religion.

William Kammer September 6, 2006

The number of incoming freshmen this year is expected to be about the same as last year, but it's getting harder to tell what the exact numbers are going to be, according to Bettina Huber, Director of Institutional Research at CSUN.

Koester priorities: Improving advisement and communication with students

William Kammer September 5, 2006
Improving communication with students is a top priority this year, said Jolene Koester, President of CSUN, at her seventh annual convocation speech held on the morning of August 31. "This is on the top of my 'to do' list," said Koester, referring in her speech to the need for improved communication and improved advisement for students.

The truth about working lackluster college jobs

William Kammer March 21, 2006
The rising costs of attending college are forcing more students to work jobs on top of the presentations, studying, research papers, midterms, and finals that students are already expected to complete. While getting a job might be inevitable, there is no reason why you can't head into the job market prepared.

Long-distance relationships suffer post-high school

William Kammer February 28, 2006
Some of the most important decisions in a person's life have to do with the one they love. ?Or at least, the one they think they love. ?A lot of this confusion starts when we leave to go to college. ?We leave to pursue our careers, and in turn we leave our parents, siblings, friends and pets, and some of us even leave behind our significant others.
