Customer service on campus is badly lacking

Sam Richard March 1, 2006
I have made an educated guess that the thing that has been bothering me has irked dozens of other folks here at CSUN as well. And that something is customer treatment on campus. Too many times, I have encountered what I consider bad customer treatment and I have to say something about it.

Modernity lacks appreciation for simplicity, nature

The sky, like a brilliant opal of periwinkle and luminescent, shifting blues, reminds me insistently as I inch along through the maze of metal, cement, frustration and fumes, that beyond the texts of history books, there was a time when grass fields and open lakes dominated the landscapes of humanity.

By filling up inboxes, spam advertisers annoy

I think that I am typical in the way that when I am procrastinating from studying and/or writing an academic paper, I revert to checking my e-mail. It is, after all, far easier to type in my password to my Juno account than it is to read about Ottoman pashas and their respective territories.

Olympic tradition bring out the best in humanity

Nick Kostezak March 1, 2006
Another Winter Olympics has come and gone, and with these festivities I have rediscovered a passion for the occasion. There's nothing quite like millions of people coming together for the same common cause (and that of a positive nature, in such trying times).

Baseball takes one of three from Highlanders

Victor Flores March 1, 2006
The Cal State Northridge baseball team took only one game in the three-game series against the UC Riverside Highlanders in an unusually non-conference game against a Big West opponent Feb. 24-26 at Matador Field. New technologies leading to the age of rudeness

Hadley Hudson March 1, 2006
It happens every time I'm in a classroom: someone's cell phone goes off. It amazes me, really. You would think it would become a habit for people to turn their phones on silent right before going to class, but no. Just like clockwork it happens. And the teachers don't even seem to care anymore.
