Men’s volleyball survives late rally by Santa Barbara

The No. 4 ranked Cal State Northridge men's volleyball team did a role reversal against No. 7 ranked UC Santa Barbara March 31 at the Matadome, but the end result was still the same, much to the Matadors' liking. CSUN won the first two games by scores of 30-20 and 30-24, but then held on for dear life as the Gauchos took the next two 22-30 and 27-30.

CSUN race car soon to hit the track and compete in Fontana

Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Ferrari, CSUN. What do these have in common? They have all built race cars. Students from the Society of Automotive Engineers CSUN chapter will take a race car - built with their own hands - and compete in Fontana, Calif. June 14.

CSUN PD cracks down on disabled placard fraud

CSUN police recently worked with Department of Motor Vehicle investigators to arrest people who illegally used disabled driver parking permits at CSUN parking lots. Christina Villalobos, CSUN Police Department spokesperson, said the investigation was conducted in response to complaints from disabled students and the CSUN police.

I have always viewed myself as a strange person, but there is one characteristic that causes me to view myself as an anomaly in today's world: I have never owned a cell phone. That's right; I have functioned for 22 years without giving people access to me 24 hours a day, and I have no plans to change that.

The east coast bias in media involving sports needs to stop

After watching the National Championship, something has to be said about this. The east coast bias in sports broadcasting needs to be dealt with. It is almost to the point where I cannot listen to the announcers on most of the major networks. Looking at CBS, there was one point during the National Championship where I had to turn my television on mute.

Men and women Track and Field finish second in Fresno

The Cal State Northridge men's and women's track and field teams finished in second at the 2006 Cal-Nevada Championships at Fresno State's Warmerdam Field from March 21 to April 1. The women, who received 53 points from their throwers, totaled 122.5 points in the meet, only 59.

If you are one of the fortunate ones to have seen this movie, you will know what I'm talking about when I refer to the scene in which Tim Robbins, in a brownish-blond Afro wig, wearing a turtleneck sweater and chomping on a pipe, jumps into an old-fashioned gangland-style brawl between news crews from competing stations.

Calabasas smoking ban beginnings of bad habit

On Feb. 15, the Calabasas City Council voted unanimously to ban smoking in all public places. The ban took effect March 17. Calabasas will not be the last city to ban smoking like this. Chicago has already enacted a ban similar to this, as has a host of other cities in the United States.

Softball unable to hold two leads against 49ers

The Cal State Northridge softball team could not hold off Long Beach State as the 49ers rallied from 2-0 deficits in both games to win 3-2 and 8-4 April 2 at Matador Diamond. "We just gave them the games," head coach Barbara Jordan said. In the first game, CSUN scored its two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
