CSUN businesses prepare for big move to USU

Several office bookshelves that once contained a small library were now bare and towers of boxes cluttered the small lobby in the Matador Involvement Center in preparation for a big move. While it is business as usual at the Mercantile Exchange, the convenience store is expected to occupy a much bigger space in the new University Student Union by the end of June.

CSUN director of finance appointed CSU East Bay president

CSUN's vice president and director of Administration and Finance was appointed as the new president at California State University, East Bay beginning July 1. An announcement was made May 17 that Mohammad Qayoumi would be CSUEB's new president during the CSU Board of Trustees meeting in Long Beach.

While the Summer 06 was recognized by the state as a regular semester for the first time this year, some CSUN students still must deal with the higher cost of summer school. Although the new system might not change much for some students, others believe the recent reform is an inconvenience.

New police building to provide much-needed space

Inside Joy McConnell's office, there is a wall lined with file cabinets containing police reports, traffic citations, court subpoenas and other important police records. McConnell, records administrator of CSUN's Public Safety Department, is responsible for dealing with a great number of forms that go to the department daily.

CSUN dorm pest problem pushes some students to move

Living on campus can be a life-changing experience. Moving out for the first time and interacting with new friends can contribute to years of priceless memories. But for Erika Smith this life-changing experience has turned into a nightmare. A couple of months after several complaints were made about rat sightings in and around the CSUN dorms, Smith saw no other option but to move back home with her parents.
