Ivan Yeo October 30, 2006
The backs of the CSUN men's soccer team are now officially against the wall. The Matadors dropped their third straight contest, this time to the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, 1-0 at Harder Stadium Oct. 25. Eric Avila provided the difference maker in the game, as his goal in the 27th minute gave the Gauchos the advantage it fed off the entire night, as the Gauchos held on for their fourth straight win despite being out shot 15-11, including a 12-3 Matador advantage in the second half.

Letter to the Editor

Open Letter to Anyone Who Partakes of the Campus Eateries: Although I applaud the on-campus eateries for structuring menus that include healthy choices for CSUN students, the eateries safety and sanitation practices are sorely lacking. Several instances at the various campus eateries lead me to question how well the food servers and managers are trained.

A.S. director of finance in need of reality check

It is far too easy to become desensitized to the politics, news and injustices at CSUN when one works at the Daily Sundial. I hear of so many frustrations and secrets - both realistic and exaggerated - within the inner workings of the school on a daily basis, and after a while my mind tends to tune some parts out, convincing myself that what was just revealed is not so bad, really.

Movie, television filming thrives on campus

Jillian Ballard October 30, 2006
Several buildings on campus have prominent and unique architecture, so it is only natural that CSUN will be in films, television shows and commercials. The Oviatt Library is the building used in movies that is the most recognizable building on campus. Feature films such as "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White ' Blonde," "Sky High" and "Bring it On Again," in addition to several TV shows, have been filmed at CSUN.

A Sacramento high school freshman was pulled out of biology class and bullied to the point of tears by Secret Service agents on Oct. 11 because of her "Kill Bush" MySpace page. Her name is Julia Wilson and if you've seen the pictures she looks as innocent as apple pie.

‘Staffing issues’ slow down tram service

Yolanda Becerra October 30, 2006
A very popular student service has been facing "staffing issues" which have caused several students to be late to class and made countless others face the dreaded walk from the dorms to the campus. Approximately 50,000 to 60,000 tram trips are taken every month, according to transportation coordinator Astrid B.

Making a personalized costume saves money

Jillian Ballard October 26, 2006
With Halloween just around the corner, it is about time to get your costume together. A Halloween costume could be right under your nose. Look in your own closet before shelling out cash on a costume. Instead of running out fighting people for what's left, all you really need from those places are a few essentials and everything else can come from what you already have.

Future of U.S. soccer still looks uncertain

Oscar Areliz October 26, 2006
The U.S. is always among the best in most of the major sports. This country has the world's respect in their professional sports leagues, such as MLB, NBA NHL and the NFL. This country also produces some of the best and most talented athletes, but it is not enough to produce great soccer players.

Chamusso is caught between his life as an apolitical foreman for the local refinery and being a devoted family man, and his new responsibility as a political operative in the African National Congress after the brutal treatment he receives while under arrest for suspicion of a crime he did not commit.

Nekromantix spreads psychobilly madness in Hollywood

Nicholas Collard October 26, 2006
It was Friday, Oct. 20, and the Key Club on the Sunset Strip was alive and kicking following the loud and spirited performance of Calabrese. They had just finished playing their set and amid the crazy mohawks from hell, I could vaguely make out a packed room full of greased up psycho punks and their red lipstick-laden arm candy accomplices.
