Travel woes continue to amplify

A word I associate with excitement, curiosity, anxiousness and prayer. Prayer? You are wondering if you read that correctly, right? Yes, prayer.

Earlier this month, Charles Carl Roberts entered an Amish schoolhouse in Pennsylvania, taking 10 girls hostage before killing five of them and then taking his own life. Less than a week earlier, Eric Hainstock entered a Wisconsin school, killing the principal.

Victorian-styled play opens this Friday

Thousands flock to Bamboozle Left music festival in Pomona

As the temperatures dropped lower and lower Saturday night at the Bamboozle Left music festival, the kids spread across the field found various ways to keep themselves warm. Some of them were wrapped in blankets they had laid out on the grass. Some were jumping up and down and kicking the air in time to the music.

Class sizes remain small despite high enrollment

Despite a steady increase in undergraduate enrollment at CSUN, undergraduate class sizes still remain relatively small, with 58 percent of undergraduate lecture courses enrolling 15 to 49 students, according to the Office of Institutional Research. "(The university) takes pride in the amount of contact between faculty and students in class and during office hours," said Cynthia Rawitch, associate vice president of undergraduate studies.

CSUN student Justin Rabi is the same actor who played "Antonio Bun-deras," "Edward James Almost," "Scare Face," and three more characters in the comedy "Ole for Hollywood," the first campus production of the semester. The senior student theater/criminology major just finished working in the play that consumed a lot of his time and dedication, but from which he also received a lot of praise.

A few weeks before NBC debuted "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," myself and my roommates were driving in Hollywood, and saw the two huge billboards with Bradley Whitford and Matthew Perry - the show's stars - pictured on them. I remember saying, "That show's going to be huge when it comes out.

Negotiations stalled until after election

The California Faculty Association has reached an impasse in the contract negotiations with the California State University and is now readying for the state to appoint mediators to help them reach an agreement by rallying and educating the public. Last month, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Human Resources Sam Strafaci told the Daily Sundial that it seemed "wise" to get the state involved in the ongoing negotiations.

Comic, anime heroes come to campus

Lucius Malfoy from the Harry Potter movies, Kiva from "Naruto" and Abel Knightguard from "Trinity Blood" were on campus this past weekend for the first ever Mikomicon, an anime and comic book convention hosted by the CSUN Anime Club. Dressed up like their favorite characters, anime lovers in attendance were treated to Taiko drum displays, concerts, panels and workshops from artists and voice actors from the industry, martial arts displays, Super Smash Brothers tournaments and so much more.

Hollywood Horror Nights

It was the night of all evil's day, Friday the 13th of October. Zombies, goblins, clowns and ghouls roamed the streets of Universal Studios Hollywood searching for their next victim. Halloween Horror Nights made its return since 2000 and is one of the main attractions for blood-thirsty, thrill-seeking Halloween spectators.

Africa Week kicks off at CSUN

A banging of drums ushered in the start of Africa Week and celebrated the opening, which was held at the USU on Monday. Francis Appiah, a member of the African Students Organization - which planned the events for weeks - wore traditional African clothing as he banged on his drums.
