Voting choices restricted by politicians’ deals

Micah Flores November 1, 2006
What is the meaning of a vote if the outcome of an election has been predetermined? It is this question that is not being brought up enough in this winner-takes-all, highly partisan world of gerrymandered voter districts. At its core, gerrymandering is a highly political process that elected officials would like to keep as their own dirty little secret.

Officials: Delay of CSU budget not political

Sam Womack November 1, 2006
Speculations abound as to why the CSU Board of Trustees has decided to postpone the annual budget proposal to the state until after the Nov. 7 election, but the CSU assures that it is in no way to influence the upcoming election. On Oct. 5, Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez sent a letter to the California State University Board of Trustees, specifically Ms.

Retired professor still advises CSUN pre-medical students

Liana Aghajanian November 1, 2006
Few people on campus remember the inception of CSUN as well as pre-med advisor Daisy Kuhn. This is due to the fact that Kuhn has seen this campus go through many changes, from only one permanent building and Zelzah Avenue being a dirt road to becoming part of the California State University system in 1972 and even the Northridge earthquake.

Christina Eddings November 1, 2006
In the basement of Eucalyptus Hall, there resides a room full of tanks harboring sea urchins. Zabie Mansoory November 1, 2006
We all know what is coming up a week from today: the stupid elections again. Why should we, the "young voters," care about it anyways? It is not like there is anything in this election that will directly affect us. It is more than clear that there are no actual issues that affect students on this November's ballot.

Fear of loneliness causes loveless relationships

Melissa Chua November 1, 2006
It has come to my realization just recently that there are plenty of people in relationships who lack love for each other or even the interest, whether it is physical or emotional. Some people wonder why they are even with that person, yet they don't do anything about their doubts.

Debby von Winckelmann November 1, 2006

The Matadors have an overall record of 14-7 and are in third place in the Big West with a conference record of 6-3.

Clippers still best in L.A.

Justin Satzman November 1, 2006
It is fitting that the 2006-07 NBA season begins on Halloween night because something is getting mysterious in the city of Los Angeles. The Clippers, and not the Lakers, are the better team that calls Staples Center home. After a season that saw the Clippers win 47 games and their first playoff series win in franchise history, the Clippers are poised to have an even better season.

Jacqueline Buda November 1, 2006
20-year-old Cal State Northridge soccer player Kristy Krohn has managed to successfully juggle school with sport. Despite a strained hamstring injury that occurred early this season, she has maintained her midfield starting position and contributed to several winning goals this year.
