Educated guesses help create schedule of classes

Christina Eddings November 22, 2006
If picking the right classes can be tough, imagine how hard it is to make the schedule of classes. Many students have already registered for their spring 2007 classes. While some may be frustrated because the classes of their choice are full or the sections are unavailable, others-especially working students-may become frustrated because there are not enough classes offered at night.

Cell phones move in on wristwatch territory

Laura holt November 22, 2006
Wristwatches are losing popularity among tech-savvy consumers. Okay, so those of you sporting a $17,000 Rolex may still have your doubts, but for the majority of college students who are still flat broke, if you are toting around the same cheap watch, chances are you are somewhat relieved, and not the least bit surprised, that the wrist watch is a bit behind the times.

Chiefs, Broncos headline turkey day games

Oscar Areliz and Johan Mengesh November 22, 2006
Miami at Detroit O: I know it is hard to believe, but the Dolphins are currently riding on a three-game winning streak. The defense is finally starting to come together and play well. The offense is not great under Joey Harrington (it never is), but it is decent enough to give the Dolphins the points needed for a win.

The CSUN men's and women's swim teams both finished in ninth place at the UC Irvine Speedo Cup at the Belmont Plaza in Long Beach on Nov. 16-18. The meet featured several top-ranked swim teams, such as Stanford and USC. "I'm sure that helped inspire us," head coach Barry Schreifels said.

DANIEL ANTOLIN November 22, 2006
Bargaining teams for the California State University system and its non-faculty workers union reached a tentative agreement for a three-year contract at San Diego State University last Wednesday after years of stagnant salaries that have not kept up with the rate of inflation.

It is that time of year again, application deadlines

Maliha Jafri November 22, 2006
As the rest of the family ate turkey, others hope that Thursday, Nov. 30 would be farther away. The deadline for transferring students and those applying for grad school is around the corner and a lot of procrastinating students will be stressing at the last minute, or at least they should be.

Matadors win shootout against Pepperdine

Ivan Yeo November 20, 2006
Turns out playing Redlands was a huge benefit to the Cal State Northridge men's basketball team while playing Pepperdine. The Matadors faced the advanced version of the "press-n-shoot" system used by the Waves Saturday afternoon at the Matadome. The game lived up to its billing in terms of a high-scoring shootout, but the Matadors still came out with the one thing they really wanted: a win, as CSUN held off a feisty Waves squad 95-92 at the Matadome.

A game for the ages

Ivan Yeo November 20, 2006
Those of you who happened to be at the Cal State Northridge men's basketball game against Cal Redlands last Wednesday got quite a treat. The Matadors came out firing and dunking early and often, almost like they were playing in their driveway, and the end result was an unthinkable 159-97 (that's right folks, 159-97) thumping of Redlands.

Groups come together

William Kammer November 20, 2006
For centuries, the Muslim and Jewish communities have been at each other's throats. The fundamental differences between the two groups have been the cause of wars, violence and hatred on a very large scale. However, during the last two weeks at CSUN, members of both communities came together to discuss the causes and history between the two religions.
