CSU student arrested after threatening murder on Facebook

A California State University Channel Islands student who was arrested after threatening to go on a shooting spree last Thursday told the police she did not intend to hurt anyone and that her Facebook.com message warning fellow students to hide under desks was meant to be a joke.

A.S. committee recommending next year’s money

The Associated Students finance committee has begun allocating money that should be set aside for next semester's unallocated reserves account, A.S. General Manager David Crandall said. Excess enrollment fees have added about $90,000 more to the unallocated reserves account.

CSUN re-evaluates public safety after Virginia Tech shootings

CSUN's Campus Safety Department has been reviewing its emergency procedure in the wake of last week's Virginia Tech shooting. The campus is waiting to revise their emergency plans since the tragedy at VPI. Glavin said that revising will be done after the independent panel releases its report by the several law enforcement experts appointed by Virginia Governor Tom Kaine to evaluate whether school officials reacted appropriately to the murder spree.

A crime alert has been issued by the Univer sity Police Department regarding a suspect in the B-3 and B-5 parking structures who has exposed himself to students on multiple occasions. The suspect exposed himself to one person twice while in the B-3 parking structure.

Donating organs as important as donating blood

Seventy-four people receive organ transplants everyday. However, every day 19 people die while waiting for a transplant that will not take place because of the shortage of donated organs. That's 6,395 people who die every year because they cannot get an organ transplant.

Love was one of the themes of "Disenchanted," a graduate student art exhibit by Donna Hicks that opened April 21 in CSUN's West Gallery. The exhibit included 12 works by Hicks. Littia Peete, Hicks mother used to draw with her daughter when Donna was young.

Last Monday, 33 lives were siphoned off the face of the Earth, including the troubled shooter who apparently took his own life after unloading on 32 other people on the campus of Virginia Tech University. Sitting in a rather quaint office in downtown Los Angeles, I felt shocked and paralyzed for most of that day, my mind racing from asking why this happened, why I care, and what I would've done if I was one of those students who saw a man spraying gunfire from two pistols.
