The first amendment is supposed to protect the freedom of speech. Some are still conversing about talk show host Don Imus and his statement when he called members of the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos." So who cares why does everyone keep on talking about it.

Matadors come up short

The CSUN Matador baseball team showed it certainly belonged on the same field with the host UCLA Bruins this past weekend. UCLA, however, managed to get the breaks it needed, and the end result was the Bruins sweeping the Matadors in three hotly contested games at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Interviews from students waiting in line to vote last Wednesday indicated that the limited number of students who voted may have done so based mainly on word of mouth and not on research, a candidate's history in student government, or the implications of a multi-million-dollar recreation center.

I would like to reply to the article "Imus firing for corporations, not in public interest". Now while I have never seen the man's show, I am quite outraged by the sort of reaction Imus gets and people who say much worse things do not get though I agree it was wrong for Imus to target the Rutgers team in that manner and glad he apologized for it.

These images and messages shaped what beauty and acceptance is in society, and helped me on the path to try to create and maintain a size four, or even get down to a size two, regardless of how I got there.

It was slipping away for the CSUN Matador men's volleyball team. In game one of its Mountain-Pacific Sports Federation playoff matchup with the USC Trojans on Feb. 18 at the Matadome, the Trojans just ripped off seven straight points and eight of nine sets overall to take a seemingly insurmountable 24-13 lead.

Comedienne spotlights eating disorders

Comedienne Michelle Garb presented as part of "U-MATTER"-dor week. "Fat Brain, Skinny Body," is an hour-long presentation about various eating disorders and ways to prevent them.

Strong winds and flying pamphlets did not detour 82-year-old Coby Siegenthaler from raising awareness of her group's cause: Informing CSUN students about veganism and animal rights. Siegenthaler was among many at the Earth Fair on Wednesday trying to provide students with resources to make informed decisions about the environment.
