Class experiment causes tension at A.S. finance committee meeting

A "comical" experiment run by students in a recreation and tourism management course caused tension at the Associated Students finance committee meeting on Monday. Jim Palmer, a student in the RTM 280 course and current member of the finance committee, placed the funding request and represented the class at the meeting.

Every four years, a lot of people run for president of the United States. This election cycle there are eight Democrat candidates and 11 Republican candidates. Of course, pretty much everyone who pays attention to the news will know of the major contenders like Barack Obama, Rudy Giuliani, Hillary Clinton, and John McCain, all candidates who grab fistfuls of dollars and headlines.

The classroom can only do so much, and that is what the last CSUN theater production of the semester demonstrated. Professionals and professors have directed past plays but now it was up to the students of the CSUN theater department.

Final spring show jazzes up CSUN audience

The CSUN Jazz "A" Band played its last show of the semester for more than 100 enthusiastic audience members Thursday at the Plaza del Sol Performance Hall. The band started the show sounding mellow with the horn section harmonizing big band style, but by the time they got to the individual improvised solos, they sounded anything but mellow.

Throughout this semester, the students at Cal State Northridge have been educated on the matter of where their tuition money is headed, courtesy of the disagreements between the California Faculty Association and the CSU administration. Talk of a strike contributed to the interest by many students to learn about the situation and discover where the money was going.

CSUN clubs and organizations honored at ceremony

About 100 seats, red, black and white balloons, and an assortment of food filled the room for students from organizations and clubs at CSUN who were eager to hear their names be called for awards. Twenty-five awards were given out at the Clubs and Organizations Awards Ceremony, "Celebrating the Spirit of CSUN," at the Grand Salon on Thursday to acknowledge hard work that has added to the community on and off campus throughout the 2006-07 school year.

CSU dickers over student fee waivers

The United Auto Workers Union, Local 4132, the union of academic student employees, has filed an unfair labor practice against the California State University for failing to disclose almost $4.3 million while claiming they did not have the budget to pay for student worker fee waivers.
