Communication student on power of words

defaultuser June 19, 2007
The spell is broken by Vincent Williamson* And god said.... "Let there be light," and there was light/ At god's word the earth was spoken into existence, the power of life and death are in the words we speak, So watch your speech, the doctrine you teach, the things you preach, can make the strong grow weak, the youth hard to reach/ The shallow become deep or the deep become shallow/ We win and lose battles when words are given life, they can conceive death/ So think before you use that breath/ Our tongues are weapons and whether we want to impact lives, or make more figures, when we speak, we squeeze that trigger releasing the bullets of life and death into our target, so if you miss the mark/ A fire is sparked/ later consuming everything in it's path including you.

Rabeeah Patail June 19, 2007
It has been a successful year for penguins. They have walked, marched, tap danced and now they are surfing. With its mockumentary style approach, directors Ash Brannon and Chris Buck 's new computer animated film "Surf's Up" fails to compete with some of their previous work - "Toy Story", "A Bug's Life", "Chicken Little", "Tarzan" and so on.

Ariel Galura June 12, 2007
This summer the CSUN Oviatt Library is hosting an art exhibit displaying 35 photographs taken almost 65 years ago that have remained undeveloped and unseen by the world until just recently. Every day hundreds of students walk by the exhibit. Unaware of its presence, students search for an open cubby that they will utilize in order to study and sleep in for the next few hours or so.

Doug Weaver June 12, 2007
Arnold Schoenberg, Johannes Brahms, Ludwig von Beethoven, Paul Hindemith - all great composers, but there's something missing: not a woman in the bunch. And that's nothing new, according to Serena Vaquilar, of the Oviatt Library's Special Collections unit, who just graduated with a master of music degree and was the driving force behind the library's "Women In Music" exhibit that ran through June 1.

Shopping addiction or couture collection?

Sena Schmidt June 12, 2007
The college years are a trying time for most. Many of us are at that halfway point in life. We yearn for both the simplicity and comfort of childhood and for a new and mysterious, but stimulating future. At the same time, we are enveloped in a constant balancing act with time management, student loans and responsibility.

The first Fantastic Four movie arrived with high expectations after the well-received Spiderman and X-Men, but failed to deliver on the quality and excitement of its relatives. Although many critics panned it, the film ended up with a worldwide theatrical gross of $330 million.

British songstress delivers variety

Jessyca Dewey June 12, 2007
Variety can often be the spice of life. Everyone enjoys a little salt and a little sugar, a little comfort, a little excitement. British singer Carina Round delivers enough variety to send the average listener running in the opposite direction. With her latest album, "Slow Motion Addict," Round skips from one musical style to another, resulting in a combination of songs sounding like Kelly Clarkson meets Regina Spektor meet Alanis Morissette.
