CSUN to open Big West play

The CSUN women's volleyball team will open their 2007 Big West Conference schedule at UC Santa Barbara Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a match against No. 20 Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Matadors have been on the road for all of their 12 pre-conference matches, starting on August 24.

Visitors wandering through the Cosima Von Bonin: Roger and Out exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles this past Friday morning took much interest in the unique and challenging display of art. Cosima Von Bonin: Roger and Out, the first solo museum exhibition in the United States for German artist Cosima von Bonin, will be on view at MOCA Grand Avenue starting September 16 through January 7, 2008 and includes approximately 50 artworks from 1990 to the present.

The CSUN women's soccer team will face the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine at Matador Soccer Field on Friday at 3 p.m. The Matadors are coming off a 3-1 loss to UCLA at home last Sunday and have a 1-4-1 record. The Rainbow Wahine are undefeated, with a 5-0-1 record.

The Cleavers have nothing on this 1950s family. The Donellys, an Irish family living on the east coast of Ireland, show us everything that 1950s sitcoms tried to hide. This family shows us that even about 60 years ago, and miles away from the U.S., people still experienced the same emotions, desires, compulsions, fears and yearnings that we do today, only in different clothes and with Irish accents.

James Wolf's letter to the editor, published on Sept. 18, has illustrated in one fell swoop the reason why the world currently (and possibly rightfully, if most Americans share Wolf's viewpoints) hates us, and why the Bush administration's current obsession of being the best and the only superpower in the world could very well be this country's demise in future foreign policy.

CSUN takes on New Mexico today

The CSUN men's soccer team returns to Matador Soccer Field at 4 p.m. today to face the 28th-ranked New Mexico Lobos. The Matadors are on a two-game winning streak after beating Cleveland State 2-0 and UNLV 1-0 in the UNLV Adidas Invitational in Las Vegas last weekend.
