CSUN loses to Toreros

The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team lost 1-0 in the first game of its current four-game road trip to 22nd-ranked University of San Diego on Friday night. Torero senior midfielder Leigh Ann Robinson's goal in the 82nd minute was the difference-maker in the close game.

Matadors lose home-opener against UC Irvine

The women's volleyball team lost a tough match 3-1 Friday night in its home-opener against the UC Irvine Anteaters. Head coach Jeff Stork said he was happy with his team's performance in the match, during which three of the four games were decided by only a few points: 20-30, 26-30, 30-26, 27-30.

Matadors upset No. 10 UCLA 3-0

It was 10 huge minutes for the CSUN men's soccer team. In those 10 minutes in the second half, the Matadors erased a winless streak against local rival 10th-ranked UCLA and built some momentum heading into Big West Conference play with a 3-0 victory, their first victory in 14 tries against the Bruins.

Geography professor uses Rabbit to go green

CSUN geography professor Dr. Steve Graves often lectures on global climate change. Now he's putting his money where his mouth is, setting an example not just for his students, but also for his children. "I keep thinking, 'You're a geography professor, you talk about global warming in class, you know it's happening, you know it's coming,'" Graves said.

Matadors fourth in season opener

The CSUN women's golf team finished in fourth place (329-314-643) in its opening tournament at the La Quinta Mountain Shootout in Flagstaff, Ariz. on Sept. 17 and 18. Northern Arizona (324-307-631), the tournament host, won the tournament by just one shot as New Mexico State (324-308-632) followed in second place.

I do not understand how Mr. Reed can go on record and say that "we" should compare apples to apples. What is he talking about? It is bad enough that students can hardly afford to go to a CSU, but we can't even get the classes we need because there are not enough classes available since we can't pay more professors.

The Japanese Garden located near the Van Nuys Airport remains a secret to many. There is no sign indicating the splendor that awaits, yet it has been ranked the 10th best Japanese garden in North America by the Journal of Japanese Gardening. Dr. Koichi Kawana, who designed the garden in 1979, has also designed the botanical gardens at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the gardens of Balboa Park in San Diego and the Missouri Botanical Garden, the largest Japanese garden in the United States, according to the garden's website.

USU holds CPR class

Neither the rain nor the cold weather stopped CSUN students from coming to the CPR workshop held by the University Student Union in the Lake View Terrace room in the USU, Saturday, Sept. 22. The workshop, which ran from 9-5 p.m., was sponsored by the USU and the University Program Council and required that students pay only $25.

A station we could always flip to and combine two things that are passions of most people ages 15-25: music and watching TV.
