Matador boxing team is getting ready to rumble

Excited and nervous, that's how members of the Matador boxing team describe their feelings toward stepping into the ring for the first time. The boxing team is in its first semester of existence as one of the Associated Students' sports clubs. The team consists of 22 members, five of which are female.

The Department of Biology at CSUN hosted one in a series of seminars on Friday at which it was suggested that humans, from their evolutionary beginning, had the capacity to coexist. Alan Shabel, a Ph.D. candidate at UC Berkeley, lectured on the "Paleoecology of Plio-Pleistocene Hominins ' The Long-Term Coexistence of Homo and Paranthropus.

New student senators pledge more outreach

Newly elected representatives to the Associated Students Senate pledged to increase student outreach to programs and services provided by the student body and to take a different stance on issues regarding statewide and national programs to support legislation that would help immigrant students earn a college education.

CSU trustees call for fee increase in budget to the governor

The Board of Trustees sent the California State University budget to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger with a 10 percent increase in student fees despite the efforts of Lt. Governor John Garamendi. What this means for full-time students at CSUN is a $169 increase in tuition fees for a total tuition cost of $1,842 per semester.

Matador Nights held by USU

The University Student Union held its biannual Matador Nights festival this past Friday at the Satellite Student Union. The circus-themed event was free to CSUN students with a current student identification card and they were allowed to bring one guest with a current college identification as well.

Upon moving to Los Angeles, McClellan, 45, also created a second Web site called "Los Angeles Girl Love.

A.S. Senate discusses elections, tuition hike

Associated Students senators spoke about the recent senatorial elections and how to improve future elections, opposing a proposed tuition increase and other items of business at their Tuesday meeting. They unanimously approved an action item to appoint Samer Habib as Senator for Engineering and Computer Science 1.
