The Cal State Northridge men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Friday, losing to Duquesne 97-74 in the opening round of the Drake Iowa Realty Invitational Tournament. The Matadors were able to bounce back with a 69-43 victory over North Carolina Central on Saturday night, ending the weekend with a 5-1 season record.

Unlucky 7 for CSUN

Seven turned out to be an unlucky number for the CSUN women's basketball team Friday night. In a showdown of 0-6 teams, it was the San Jose State Spartans who came away with their first win of the season on Friday night, as they held off the Matadors 59-55 at the Matadome.

Immigration can’t stop, since U.S. labor force needs to grow

Immigration, protection of the United States' borders and the labor force share a wound that has yet to heal. Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani attacked each other in the recent debate on the issue of illegal immigration. Romney accused Giuliani of allowing his city to become a "sanctuary" for illegal immigrants.

International students share their food, culture

Students skipped buying pricey tickets and sitting in an airplane for hours to explore and savor the aromas and tastes of international cuisine when they attended last week's "Global Village" at the University Student Union. They sampled food alongside visitors who wore attire originally developed in the Middle East, Nicaragua, Poland, Italy and India, the countries from which the food originated.

Matadors win, now 4-0 for season start

For the first time since 1983-84 the CSUN men's basketball team has started its season with a 4-0 record. This was accomplished Wednesday night as the Matadors came from behind after halftime to defeat the host Cleveland State Vikings 78-68 at Wolstein Center.

Bonds should pay, but his popularity makes it difficult

Barry Bonds could be facing jail time after being indicted on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice, after lying to a federal grand jury about the use of performance-enhancing drugs. The courts ordered an investigation of Bonds and other athletes in December of 2003.

Assimiland," a visual and interactive special screening held in Manzanita Hall on Tuesday evening, presented viewers with an interpretive form of art and for some a reality to consider. Professor Jeanine Minge, the screenings creator and coordinator, said the idea was to show processing as a method society requires of immigrants to partake in when becoming a part of American culture.

Effects from Iraq should be considered before going into Iran

Many international affairs are leading the United States in a horrifying direction, while some spoiled and brain dead Americans are mesmerized by how many times Britney Spears and Lindsey Lohan went to jail within the past year.
