Alumnus creates music-based social networking website

A CSUN alumnus has created a website that brings people together through media and allows them to legally share music, movies and more online. Melinky.com targets college students in the same way as MySpace, said co-founder Perry Weinstein, who majored in broadcast journalism.

As of Jan. 29, California State University colleges have received a record number of 515,448 undergraduate applications for fall 2008 admissions, the CSU administration indicates. This is an increase of 47,967 applications received prior to date from last year.

Matadors rebuilding

Matador baseball is rebuilding. Despite playing 56 games in a season that is three and a half weeks shorter than usual, they are not concerned with other teams in the Big West conference. Junior Morgan Bogard posted an NCAA Provision mark in the weight throw last Saturday at the 2008 Husky Classic in Seattle. Bogard's throw of 62-3 (18.97) was good for second place in the competition at the Dempsey Indoor facility. The Husky Classic was the final meet for the CSUN track and field teams before heading back to Seattle for the MPSF Indoor Championships on Feb.

Nicolson wins at GADO tourney in Mexico

Cal State Northridge senior Kyle Nicolson posted rounds of 69-71-67 on the Flamingos G.C. course in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to win the GADO North Texas Classic individual title by two shots. ?As a team, the Matadors finished in second place out of a 14-team field.
