Mariah’s new album follows formula for success

DeShawna Hornbuckle April 22, 2008
Mariah Carey returns with her 10th release entitled "E=MC2." Her formula for success on this album includes taking bits from her past and giving it a hip-hop twist. Leading Carey on her path back to chart domination is the flirty song "Touch My Body" which has proven to be a great choice for the first single from the album.

Romantic comedies a perfect solution to gloomy day

Eileen Mansoorian April 22, 2008
Out of all the genres of films, the one that is near and dear to my heart is the romantic comedy. You get the laugh out loud moments along with the tearjerker scenes that make you wish you were the object of the lead actor's affection. It seems like a new romantic comedy comes out in theaters every Friday, but amongst most of the flops are five films that have made it into my romantic comedy hall of fame.

‘Where in the world is Osama bin Laden?’ captures heart

Alyssa Lofgren April 22, 2008
Where in the World is Osama bin Laden?" opens with a tight shot of a positive pregnancy test. When the shot shifts to a pixie-ish blonde, holding a cluster of other positive tests, you might be thinking, "Am I in the wrong theatre? What does this have to do with bin Laden?" Don't worry, you're in the right place - this slightly off-kilter montage is the basis of director Morgan Spurlock's quest to to protect his forthcoming son from one of the biggest dangers in the world, Osama bin Laden.

Open minded people will enjoy unique ‘Personality Crisis’

Betsy Garcia April 22, 2008
Personality Crisis" is a dark comedy about celebrity identity mixed with rock and metal music, inspired by the recent literary hoaxes of "JT LeRoy" and "Nasdijj." The "sinful" and "dirty" writing of Trixie's autobiographical fiction, which concentrates on the transgendered hustler BJ McCool, becomes the ticket to fame not only for the author, and the rock band, but also to an unexpected new celebrity.

CSUN advances to MPSF semis

Ivan Yeo April 22, 2008
The sixth-seeded Stanford Cardinal certainly showed that it wasn't going to be a pushover for the third-seeded CSUN Matador men's volleyball team in its Mountain Pacific Sports Federation quarterfinal match at the Matadome on Saturday night. In the end however, nothing was going to stop CSUN from securing a place in the MPSF semifinals, as they worked for another three-game sweep, as a balanced offensive attack combined with some good siding out enabled the Matadors to take out the Cardinal by scores of 30-26, 30-19 and 30-28.

Dear Editor, In response to Jennifer Flores' letter to the editor about "specialized groups" being catered by CSUN, the Aztlan Graduation Committee would like to make some clarifications to her letter and correct her false and obnoxious claims. In her letter, Flores claims that these graduation ceremonies are set aside for students of "certain races" but that is not the case.

The Earth is a closed system: Choose to consume consciously

Samantha Kaplan April 22, 2008
Have you ever been so thrilled to receive a cool breeze in the midst of the summer heat? And what a nice surprise to turn the corner and feel a cloud of sweet fragrance hit your face as the jasmine flowers bloom across campus in late spring? And don't you just love a cool shower on a hot day? Not only does nature provide everything we need for our sustenance, but we also get to enjoy these natural pleasures, and we even have the luxuries of iPods, pillows and massage chairs.

BANKSY

Bejan Siavoshy April 21, 2008
The spastic enviornment of cities often allow for that which ascends far beyond the close-minded generlization of "vandalism" to be grossly overlooked, only receiving due praise in the graffiti subculture from which it was spawned. Deviating from the norm and making people take notice requires a rare mix of zeal, talent, bravado, and a moderate thirst for destruction, countered only by the drive to create-characteristics that renegade artist Banksy has tenfold.

Yes, that is William Hung on campus

Dylan Miles April 19, 2008
Have you ever taken a moment to have a second glance at the man or woman standing next to you? The first time you look at them, they look familiar but you think nothing of it. Upon further scrutiny and inspection, you start to get the feeling that this may be someone you've seen before.

Airbrushing should be a technique of the past for magazines

Eileen Mansoorian April 19, 2008
It turns out I can look like a supermodel with the click of a mouse. A little more definition in the cheeks, shrink the waist by five inches, and lets not forget about the butt! Add a healthy glow to my skin so it looks like I came from an exotic South American country and I'm almost at digital perfection.

Dear Editor, I'm sure that whether we are current undergrads, graduating seniors, or alumni, we can all agree that graduation from a university is a monumental moment. Ethnic background is irrelevant when it comes to the commitment and dedication it takes to make it through endless hours of stress, homework, stress, studying, stress, and writing novels commonly known as final papers.
