In a label conscious culture it is no wonder that the mainstream media is quick to label any and everything in order to mold it into a preexisting box rather than have to stretch their minds around something new and (gasp!) different. Trans fats banned in restaurants and bakeries

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation AB 97 on July 25 banning the use of trans fats in restaurants, making California the first state to adopt the guideline. Effective Jan. 1, 2010 the ban will prevent the use of oils, margarines and shortenings that contain trans fats in restaurants and bakeries.

Men’s soccer opens season with familiar faces

The men's soccer season is here. The Matadors finished last season with a record of 7-7-6 overall and 3-5-4 in Big West Conference-play. It was good enough for fourth place in their league, but not good enough to satisfy CSUN supporters. Northridge will now strive for a significant improvement from 2007. It's time to translate the Matadors' abilities into results.

President Jolene Koester (left) took out items such as a 1983 TV Guide, a catalog, a banner, a survey, and messages from donors. Old newspapers and magazines were pulled from a time capsule placed at the campus.
