Head Coach Bobby Braswell said Deon Tresvant chose not to be a part of Senior Day. It was Tresvant's decision and Braswell respected it.

Matadors crush 49ers in showdown for "best in  the Big West" Alonso Tacanga / Sports Editor The two coaches spotted each other and walked to midcourt on Saturday afternoon prior to the tip-off of the game that would undo a tie for first place between their teams in the Big West Conference. The 49ers’ Dan Monson approached CSUN’s ...

Deon Tresvant anyone?

February 28, 2009

Tresvant was not at the Matadome and did not receive his senior portrait. There wasn't even a mention of his name during the ceremony. On the other hand, Josh Jenkins, Tremaine Townsend, Rob Haynes and Rodrigue Mels were all honored.

No sweat?

Long Beach State cut CSUN's 28-point lead to 18 and even though that's still a huge lead, some fans here started to feel a little heated, perhaps feeling the secure Northridge win was about to become a fight against the clock. Well, CSUN'S now up 87-68 with 3:16 to go. Can they hold a 20-point lead...

Willie Galick

February 28, 2009

The man can fly sometimes. Galick went up for an offensive rebound and found the ball in a perfect bounce for ... a two-handed backwards putback dunk. In a Jordan-esque showing, he stuck out his tongue seconds later. CSUN's up 79-53 with 8:56 to go. Everything has gone the Matadors' way in this second...

Who are these guys?

February 28, 2009

The Matadors look NOTHING like they looked just four days ago when they barely escaped with a 62-57 win against eighth-place UCSB. CSUN's leading 70-47 with 13:13 to go. That's not a typo. The Matadors are indeed leading by 23. Long Beach State does not look like it's tied for No. 1 in the Big West....

Matadors still flying high

CSUN's still dominating at the Matadome and leads LBSU 60-45 with 15:31 to go. Tremaine Townsend has nine of his 11 points in the period and Kenny Daniels is heading to the line to add to his 12. First one's a brick. Second one goes in. CSUN up 61-45.

Kenny’s too eager

February 28, 2009

Kenny Daniels is having a fine game for CSUN, scoring 12 points in a variety of ways. However, he's a bit too eager with wanting too contribute. Rodrigue Mels went ahead on a fastbreak and was fouled as he put up a layup that was about to drop in ... right before Daniels came in and slammed it down...

The Matadors are in control for now. Mark Hills has gone to the bench after picking up his second foul and Rodrigue Mels has stepped in to replace him at point guard. Mels has had two steals, one of them he took coast-to-coast for a dunk that made fans get on their feet. CSUN leads 35-24 with 3:55...

Mark Heeeeeel …

Alonso Tacanga

February 28, 2009

Well Mark Hill was due and, so far, is a main reason for why CSUN's up 27-18 with 10 minutes to go in the first half. Hill's got seven points, four assists and no turnovers. He must foreced a Long Beach State airball. Certainly all momentum is with the Matadors at the moment. Let's hope I didn't just...

Both teams are playing at a high level. Larry Anderson is being a wonder freshman again and has six of the 49ers' 10 points. CSUN leads 14-10. Mark Hill has three assists, totaling three more than he had total in his last outing (0). Donovan Morris is in off the bench for LBSU.
