Pianist and chanter Paul Barnes will present a unique program featuring his recent tribute to the creative relationship of world-renowned composer Philip Glass and sculptor Richard Serra. 

Barnes will open this recital with a set of his own popular transcriptions and etudes of Glass. The program will also feature a newly-composed work for Barnes by Pepperdine composer N. Lincoln Hanks entitled Hristos anesti! The work is based on the Greek and Arabic resurrection chant from the Greek Orthodox tradition.  

The second half of the program also reveals Barnes’ role as a Greek Orthodox chanter and will feature new works by Ron Warren, J.A.C Redford and Victoria Bond recently commissioned by Barnes and based on Native American, Jewish, and Byzantine chant.
