The CSUN women’s tennis team (3-0, 2-0 Big West) rallied to defeat the UC Davis Aggies 4-3 Sunday in the Matadors’ 2015 home opener at the Matador Tennis Complex.

The Matadors winning streak in Big West play seemed to come to an end when CSUN lost their doubles matches 2-1, but the Matadors came back to win four singles matches to secure the win.

In doubles play, the duo of freshman Kiryang Kim and sophomore Vivian Lin lost 8-1 in the first match. Sophomore Mickey Hsu and sophomore Kristen Poei won the second match 8-2. In the tiebreaker, senior Criss Rodriguez and junior Jessica Warren lost a tough battle 8-7.

CSUN responded well in singles play by winning four of six matches to bring home the win. Lin began the rally by winning 6-2, 6-2 in straight sets. Hsu continued the winning streak by winning 6-2, 6-0 in the second match. Kim won 6-3, 6-1 in the fourth match and Warren completed the remarkable comeback by winning 6-0, 6-2 in the fifth match.

The Matadors continue their Big West Conference schedule on Saturday, Feb. 21 as they host Cal State Fullerton at the Matador Tennis Complex. First serve is at 11 a.m.
